One of the more suggestive and evocative elements of the garden is the water lily pond known as the “pool of Venus” with two underlying grottos in porous stone.
The pond is the crowning element that completes the fountain’s court yard enclosed by a wall parapet facing the valley below.
The pond is ample with soft curves and behind it is a wall of stone within which open up two grottoes connected by an internal passageway.
At the center of the pond, a statue of Venus rests upon a rock while two ramps of stairways rise up on both sides completing the design.
