The Villa and the Garden of Monaciano in Chianti
A drawing by the artist Ettore Romagnoli dating from 1835 attests to the fact that there was a garden annex to the Villa in the eighteenth century but was actually put in place during the middle part of the century when the building was completely modified by the nobleman Alessandro Pucci Sansedoni. The owner constructed a new villa and romantic garden complex in the innovative spirit of the styles pervading Florence at the time. The villa is situated on three levels with a facade subdivided into three parts within which the central portals of the main entrance open up. The park and garden extend over a surface of approximately three hectares, along the slope adjacent to the villa, with pathways decorated by statues, flowerbeds, grottos and fountains. Visitors can enjoy the aviary, the ancient lemon house and peacock house that frame the brick green house containing a rich assortment of ornamental and exotic plants. . Recent restoration has renovated the garden parks and first floor of the villa making the spaces accessible for visits, weddings, ceremonies and events.
